  Hideguys :: Leather Care

  Leather Care
Care of your new garment
Leather is a natural product which is died and treated to the correct shade whilst still maintaining many natural oils which contribute to the suppleness of the garment. Always be aware that any new leather garment can possibly stain other porous surfaces such as leather car seats etc..

When new suede particles and fibre may shed, this is natural and will soon dissappear.

If your garment gets wet, dry on a hanger away from direct heat and when dry brush thoroughly to remove any rainspots. For added protection use leather cleaner and guard products such as those available on this site. Do not dry clean. The chemicals used will remove the oils so essential to leather.

As with any product derived from nature variations of shade and texture may occur within the same skins. These are perfectly natural characteristics which distinguish leather coats and jackets from man made substitutes.

  • Do not store leather in a plastic garment bag! It can't breathe. Opt for a cloth cover instead
  • Keep the item on a broad, sturdy hanger so it keeps its shape
  • Clean smooth leathers with a damp cloth
  • Regularly brush suedes and nubuck

  • In bad weather coditions, promptly remove any salt deposits by sponging with clean water, then follow with the treatment recommended above for wet or damp leather garments.
